Ly Son is an island district of Quang Ngai province, located about 30 km from the shore, with an area of ​​nearly 10 km2 and a population of over 20,000 people. Ly Son island has left an unforgettable impression in the hearts of visitors with its warm sunny days, the beaches and the extremely welcoming people.

Ly Son Island consists of 3 islands: Dao Lon, Dao Be and Mu Cu Island. Dao Lon is also called Cu Lao Re, which is the center of Ly Son island. Dao Be is also known as An Binh. Mu Cu island in the east, located close to Dao Lon, is the smallest and uninhabited island.

Planning to travel to Ly Son Island

The most appropriate time for visitors to Ly Son island is the following three times:

Transportation to Ly Son

Planes

The nearest airport to go to Sa Ky port (where there are high-speed ships to Ly Son island) is Chu Lai airport of Quang Nam, each week from Hanoi has three flights to Chu Lai with round-trip fare of 3 million VND, from Sai Gon with round-trip ticket price of about 3.5 million VND. If traveling by plane you should rent a car because the distance from Chu Lai airport to Sa Ky port is about 50km.

Passenger cars

From Hanoi and Sai Gon, there are many high-quality car manufacturers in Quang Ngai. You can contact the car dealers to book tickets in advance (from 2 to 5 days depending on the time of your trip, in the holidays you need to book tickets early because the tickets run out very quick). Passenger cars go to Quang Ngai from Hanoi and Saigon, you can contact The Sinh Tourist, Camel or Hoang Long.

Train

Every day, from both Hanoi and Saigon, there are 5 Thong Nhat trains going to the North and South. Depending on their time, you can choose the right time for your train journey (trains have odd number are from Hanoi and even number are from Sai Gon)

After going to Quang Ngai if going by a group people so you should rent a taxi from the center of Quang Ngai to Sa Ky port (about 20km) or to save money you can use the bus number 03 is scheduled to run from Quang Ngai Bus Station to Sa Ky Port.

Every day from Sa Ky port and Ly Son port at the Ly Son island, there are 3 high speed ships to the island and to the mainland. The ships depart from 7.30am to 9am. Ticket office is open at 6h30 daily, each queue will be purchased 2 tickets. When purchasing tickets people will have to declare their full names, date of birth, address and ID number.

For a crowded group, you can register in front of the delegation’s list (including full details as above) together with the delegate’s phone number and fax it to the board of management at least 15h30 of the day before departing, when to buy tickets should bring the original list.

Ships from Dao Lon to Dao Be depart from 8:00am and return to Dao Lon at 2h30pm every day, you can also contact the fishing boat of the people to Dao Be.

Landscape in Ly Son Island

From the Dao Lon every day there are ships to the small island, departing at 8am and back at 14h30 every day. You can walk around the island to visit beautiful animals, garlic fields, to the beach at the end of the Ly Son island and back to the pier to rest and eat.
