Indians wishing to enter Vietnam for business reasons must apply for a Vietnam Business Visa (also known as a Vietnam DN Visa). The Vietnamese Business Visa is a short-term visa provided to Indians who will be working in Vietnam for a business, attending a meeting/negotiation, signing a contract, etc., but do not have a work permit.
Yes, Indian passport holders with a valid Business Visa are permitted to operate in Vietnam so long as the period of each visit does not exceed 90 days.
Indians who want to work in Vietnam for more than three months must apply for a work permit and a temporary residency card.
Indians must have the following papers in order to apply for a Vietnamese business visa:
a/ A passport from India with a minimum validity of six months.
b/ One or more passport-sized photographs with the following specifications:
c/ If Indians request a Vietnamese business visa at an embassy or consulate:
d/ If an Indian applies for a Vietnamese Business Visa Upon Arrival:

Indians may apply for a Vietnamese Business Visa in one of the below ways:
3.1/ Obtaining a Vietnam Business Visa at an Indian Embassy or Consulate
Indians must contact the local Vietnam Embassy or Consulate in order to apply for a Vietnamese Business Visa. All Indians and foreigners may submit visa applications at the embassy and consulate of Vietnam in New Delhi and Mumbai, respectively.
The application procedure for Indians seeking a Vietnamese business visa at an embassy or consulate is as follows:
a/ The sponsoring firm in Vietnam files for a Letter of Sponsorship or Letter of Entry Clearance from Vietnam’s Immigration Services after receiving the following information from Indians:
The processing time for Letter of Sponsorship/Letter of Entry Clearance for Indians is around seven days. After issuance, the sponsor in Vietnam will send an email to the Indian applicant.
b/ Indians file an application for a Vietnamese Business Visa with the Letter of Sponsorship/Letter of Entry Clearance at the Embassy or Consulate.
3.2/ Obtaining a Vietnamese Business Visa Upon Arrival for Indian Citizens
Applying for a Vietnamese Business Visa Upon Arrival is a quicker and less complicated alternative to applying at the Embassy. Indians may only get a visa upon arrival at one of the following entry points:
Indians must first get a Letter of Approval from the Vietnamese Immigration Department in order to apply for a Business Visa Upon Arrival. Indians may get a Letter of Approval online by contacting one of the private travel firms or businesses authorised by the Immigration Department to seek Letters of Approval on their behalf.
After obtaining a Letter of Approval, Indians may go to Vietnam, where they must queue up at the visa-issuing offices at the airport and wait to get a business visa stamped on their passport.
3.3/ Obtaining an E-Visa for Vietnam Business online for Indians
Through the Vietnam E-visa Portal, Indian residents may get a Vietnamese Business E-Visa online. However, Vietnam eVisa is only valid for a single entrance for 30 days. If Indians want to extend their stay, they must apply for a Business Visa via one of the two other methods.
Instructions for Indians to apply for a Vietnamese business E-visa:
Indian businesses may apply immediately by accessing the Vietnam e-visa application website and filling out all relevant fields.
Indian visas will be processed upon completion of the visa application form. E-visa processing takes three business days, and the PDF visa result will be provided to the applicant’s registered email address.
Vietnamese Business Visas for Indians are available for one month, three months, and single or multiple entries.
For a longer working trip in Vietnam, Indians must urge their sponsoring firm in Vietnam to apply for a work visa, followed by the acquisition of a temporary residence card. The validity period for an Indian’s work permit and temporary residency card in Vietnam is two years. It serves as a long-term visa for Indian visitors to Vietnam.
At the local Immigration Office in Vietnam, Indians may seek to extend their Vietnamese Business Visa. Indians will require a letter of invitation or sponsorship from the business extending the invitation. Indians may also approach the local Vietnamese visa agency to extend their visas in order to ease the procedure.
Indians may get a three-month extension on their Vietnam business visa.
Briefly, Indians may apply for a Vietnamese business visa for a short business trip to Vietnam, but Indians must apply for a work permit for long-term employment in Vietnam. Indians may apply for a business visa at the embassy or consulate of Vietnam in India, apply for an E-visa online, or apply for a visa upon arrival at the airport.
