Vietnam is welcoming more and more Indian now. That is the reason why we receive many question about visa requirement with Indian passport holder. Many customers asked: “I am Indian, do I need to apply visa Vietnam? Or Indian are free visa to enter Vietnam?”

Coming to Vietnam with tourism or business purpose, Indian passport holders need to apply for Vietnam visa.

There are only 2 cases that you are exempted for visa:

• You have APEC business travel card. Vietnamese government allows every member country of APEC can easily enter Vietnam without visa.
• You choose Phu Quoc island as a destination for staying not more than 30 days with only tourism purpose. From the 31st day, you need to apply for Vietnam visa. If you travel outside the island, you also need to apply a visa.

There are 3 types of visa that you can consider to apply for the most suitable one:

1. Visa On Arrival

Vietnamese government allows every citizen in the world to easily apply for Visa On Arrival through a few simple steps via website and airport. There are only 6 international airports which accept Visa On Arrival. With this visa, you can’t enter Vietnam through any land borders, sea ports or other airports in Vietnam.

Procedure: Apply online to get the approval letter before flying to Vietnam. Then submit this letter + original passport + Vietnamese application form, and pay stamp fee at the destination airport. After that, receive passport back with visa inside and enter Vietnam through passport control counter.

2. Electronic visa (E-visa)

This is also an online visa. India is one of 80 countries which can apply for e-visa via website. The way to apply for it is so easy and convenient. With this visa, you can enter Vietnam through 8 international airports, 16 land borders and 9 sea ports.

Procedure: Apply online to get the E-visa before flying to Vietnam. At the passport control counter, show this E-visa and your passport, then enter Vietnam.

3. Vietnam visa at the embassy or consulate in Indian

Indian citizens can also apply for Vietnam visa at the embassy or consulate in your country. With this visa, you can enter Vietnam through every gate.

Procedure: Come to the embassy or consulate of Vietnam in India to submit application form, passport and required documents. After 1 week, come back to embassy or consulate to get the result.
