The house in 38 Hang Dao Street was initially used as the headquarters of the Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board, this restored turn of the century “tube house” was reopened in 2000 to give instructions about information, maps and guided walking tours of the Old Quarter. The lower floor is used to display photographs of Hà Nội’s old streets and remaining antique buildings, whilst the upper floor incorporates the offices of the Board and its library of information on restoration and preservation projects in the Old Quarter which is open to researchers on request.
